11/20/08 - Neuro Update

So, Dr. Shelly Timmons from Neurology came-in to give me her scoop on the M.R.I. and said that she did not see ANY trouble-areas with Wendy's Brain. However, she said that the Carotid Arteries that are dissected are BOTH of the Internal Carotids and one of the Vertibral Carotids. The Internal Carotids are called "Internal" because they feed the internal components of the brain. The Vertebral Carotids supplement the internal carotids, as well as feed the cerebellum. (where motor skills are controlled.) The right-side (if you are Wendy) Internal Carotid is the worst because it is frayed in a "twisting" pattern. They are going to keep Wendy in bed for 48 hours and gradually step her up to more physical activity. They will be watching her Right Internal Carotid closely, but the other two appear that they will heal on their own. She just needs to lay still and heal.

Lunch tray is here, so, I'm going to help Wendy eat and will get back to you after the 1pm Visit.
