11/16/08 - 9am Visit

Good news this morning!  She had another M.R.I. at Midnight and they did not find anything negative.  When we got to the room, she had just gotten back from having a CT Scan. She was awake and they have her elevated.  She said that it takes a lot of energy to talk. The good thing is that she is not babbling/mumbling anymore,so, that shows improvement regarding her brain injury.  They are already putting together her recovery plan. The Neurosurgeons will asses her later today to determine her mental condition/capacity. After that, Speech Therapy will see her and help her with her speech and make sure that she can swallow. That should determine when she can eat on her own.  If her mental capacity is up-to-speed, Physical Therapy will try to get her up-n-moving tomorrow.  She is VERY weak and doing anything (including responding to questions) is difficult.

I am encouraged that the Doctors and Therapists are looking ahead.  To me, that seems like they see her improving on all levels and have a positive outlook.

She gave me a BIG smile and said "bye" as we left this time and that is a BIG deal.

More after the 1pm visit...
